Anabel De Proft

Anabel De Proft - Biophotonics Researcher, imec
As a biophotonics researcher, Anabel helps to advance imec's integrated photonics platform for implantable neural probes.

Anabel started her career as a research scientist in wearable electronics at Samsung America, where she helped to build an arrhythmia and sleep apnea detection wearable, based on imec optical sensor technology.
She later joined imec as a PhD researcher in nanophotonics, where she developed optical metasurfaces for wavefront shaping.
Now, she applies her background in photonics to expand imec's existing neural probe technology with optogenetic capabilities.

Anabel is trained in electrical engineering at the KU Leuven (Belgium), from where she also obtained her PhD in Physics.
