Abstract

This presentation explores the future of automotive sensing and computing for autonomous vehicles. In a first part of this talk, we'll discuss imec's work on radar, LiDAR, and imaging technologies, anticipating the sensors for 2030 and  beyond . As the automotive industry shifts towards software-defined vehicles having higher levels of autonomy combined with a highly immersive digital in-cabin experience, computational demands are spiraling out of control. In a second part of this talk, we will discuss why it is inevitable, for the central vehicle computer, to move away from monolithic solutions and towards modular, chiplet-based systems, enabling customizable and scalable solutions. We'll highlight the benefits of chiplets for cost, efficiency, and performance, and discuss their potential to revolutionize automotive compute technology.
