Maarten Slembrouck

Maarten Slembrouck – Postdoc researcher at IDLab, an imec research group at Ghent University

Maarten Slembrouck is Postdoc Sports Data Science Engineering at imec-IDLab Ghent and obtained the degree Doctor of Engineering in 2021 at imec-IPI, another research group of imec in multi-camera 3D reconstruction using computer vision. 

In 2022, Maarten joined the group of prof. Steven Verstockt to expand the sports engineering projects within IDLab. As a former Short Track Speed Skating athlete and engineer, Maarten was always interested in technology and sports. Therefore, the match with sports data science engineering forms a perfect fit for him.

During his PhD, Maarten worked on several industrial projects related to multi-camera setups such as the icon.IPLAY and icon.COSMO project in cooperation with academic and industry partners.
