CEO & President - Roswell Biotechnologies, Inc.
Mr. Mola is the CEO and President of Roswell Biotechnologies, Inc., and a member of the company’s board of directors. He founded Roswell in 2014 to realize the promise of molecular electronics to fight disease. At Roswell, Mr. Mola has raised more than $50 million to support a team of about 50 engineers and scientists to develop a powerful, universal biosensor by integrating single molecules into nanocircuits and deploying these on standard semiconductor chips. Roswell's all-electronic chip platform is designed to read all molecules of life for a complete view of biology to transform drug discovery, next-generation sequencing, and molecular diagnostics.
Mr. Mola has more than 20 years of experience in the life science industry, and is a leader in the field of genomic sequencing. Prior to Roswell, Mr. Mola was Head of Global Solutions at Human Longevity, Inc., working with genome sequencing pioneer Craig Venter to establish international precision medicine partnerships. Previously, he spent over half a decade at Life Technologies / Applied Biosystems (now part of ThermoFisher Scientific), the global leader in life science tools, and the historical market leader in DNA sequencing technology, where he was President of the Enterprise Genomic Solutions Business Unit and Head of Strategy and Chief of Staff for the Genetic Systems Division. In these roles, he managed strategy and international, large-scale business engagements for the entire DNA Sequencing Technology portfolio.
Mr. Mola received the Life Technologies’ “Game Changer” award, the company’s highest honor for work that transforms the company, for his accomplishments, which included establishing the national genome sequencing program for the government of Saudi Arabia, driving the acquisition of the Ion Torrent sequencing platform, leading the commercialization of the SOLiD sequencing platform, and developing the business strategy Life Technologies engagement with Genia sequencing platform (later acquired by Roche). Earlier in his career, Mr. Mola served in various capacities at Roche, including sales and marketing.
Mr. Mola serves on the board of Biocom California, and is a member of the advisory councils to the Fleet Science Center and the San Diego State University Mission Valley Innovation District. Through Roswell's community engagement program to support under-represented communities in STEM, Mr. Mola volunteers as a mentor and speaker to groups including Kearny High School, among others. He holds a post-graduate degree in Biotechnology and Business.
