Biography
Jan Jambon is the Minister-president of Flanders since 2 October 2019. He started his career at IBM as an account manager. Later on in his professional life he worked as a regional director at companies such as SD Worx, Solvus Resource Group and Creyf’s Interim. In 2000, he made the switch to the financial sector, after being named the director of Bank Card Company.
From 2007 onwards, he pursued a career in politics. The same year he was elected as a member of parliament in the Belgian Chamber of Representatives and in his local municipality of Brasschaat. In 2008, he became chairman of the parliamentary party of N-VA in the Belgian Chamber of Representatives. In 2013, he was elected as mayor of Brasschaat, an office he still holds to today. In 2014, he became a federal minister of Internal Affairs, Security and State Buildings. During the most recent elections he made the switch to the regional elections of Flanders, where he was elected as Minister-president of Flanders and minister of Foreign Policy, Culture, Digitization and Management of Facilities.
