Biography
Jeroen Büscher - Product Manager, VITO - EnergyVille
Dr. Jeroen Büscher defended his PhD degree in Physics at KU Leuven in 2010. He was active as project manager at the Department of Electrical Engineering at KU Leuven from 2011-2016 with a focus on renewable energy technologies, smart grids and the integration of electric vehicles in the low voltage distribution grid.
In September 2016 he joined the VITO forces within EnergyVille as product manager electrical storage. In this role he is responsible for the development and execution of the roadmap on electrical storage technologies and services. Jeroen is also very experienced in project management in an international setting. Within EnergyVille he takes up the role as research line coordinator for battery storage.
Jeroen has been and is still involved as an expert in various energy storage and battery related initiatives and working groups: European Technology & Innovation Platform (ETIP) Smart Networks for Energy Transition (SNET) Working Group 2 (WG2) on Energy Storage and Sector Interfaces; several WGs within Batteries Europe (ETIP Batteries) and Batteries European Partnership Association (BEPA), delegate for the Belgian Energy Research Alliance (BERA) within the Sub Programme on Electrochemical Storage in the Joint Programme on Storage with EERA (European ERA).
The main focus theme for Jeroen and his colleagues are the development of next generation battery management technologies to improve on battery quality, reliability, lifetime and safety. This involves both hardware and software development, alongside progress on advanced battery modelling and diagnostics.
